The UNSW Rugby Union Club is a club steeped in tradition and a senior member of the NSW Suburban Rugby Union Competition.
UNSW Rugby has seen over 3000 players and officials join the fold, many as students completing their studies and then moving on into their professional lives, and continuing to contribute to the UNSW Rugby community.
Throughout our history, we have won 31 premierships throughout all of our grades and collected 3 coveted club championships. The club boasts many former representatives, the most notable being Simon Poidevin, who represented Australia whilst playing for UNSW Rugby Club.
The club plays in NSW Suburban Rugby’s 2nd Division competition, which has 4 senior grades and an U21 Colts grade. We play against many clubs, such as Barker Old Boys, Brothers, Forest, King’s Old Boys, Lindfield, Newport, Oatley, Petersham, and St Ives.
Our women’s side formed in 2017, beginning with a few determined rugby fanatics, a desire to try something new and a couple of great coaches with a bucket load of patience. We came out of the year with a bunch of new skills, so many new faces and a new appreciation for how much fun it can be to run full speed at another person.
We love and welcome players of all ages and skill levels, uni and non-uni students alike. Our hard work paid off as we won the Open Women’s Bowl at the Greater Western Sydney and Blue Mountains in December 2017, and look forward to only improving as we go into 2018.
Close to the beach for training sessions and a part of the new Waratahs training ground, UNSW Rugby is the New Home of Rugby in NSW.
